IVF Financial and Insurance Information

Although IVF is costly, we have made every effort to keep our fees as reasonable as possible and offer a variety of financial options.

At Virginia Fertility & IVF we offer lower prices compared to most of the other clinics in our region and, most importantly, consistently excellent pregnancy rates.  We are a highly cost-effective program and have great pride in the quality of our individualized care.

For Patients Without IVF Insurance Coverage

Approximately 60% of our patients do not have medical insurance which covers IVF.  Our IVF fee reflects a discounted “package price” and will cover the vast majority of what occurs during the IVF treatment.  This includes: all ultrasounds during ovarian stimulation and blood tests done to monitor the egg stimulation, surgeon egg retrieval fees, laboratory charges for sperm preparation on the day of egg retrieval, egg search, egg and embryo culture, assisted hatching and embryo transfer.  Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) anesthesia, and embryo cryopreservation and storage will incur additional fees for some of our packages.

Preliminary testing (IVF sperm evaluation, a trial embryo transfer and antral follicle count, uterine cavity assessment [SIS or HSG], blood tests for ovarian reserve and infectious disease testing) are not included in the fee but in many cases are billable to your insurance company as “testing.”  Medications used for IVF are not included in the package prices.  The fee for an IVF cycle must be paid on the day the cycle begins.

For Patients With Insurance Coverage

Some insurance carriers are covering IVF.  Our office can assist you in determining your coverage and arranging preauthorization if needed.  This must be done before treatment can be scheduled.  This will allow direct billing of your IVF expenses to your insurance carrier with the exception of the anesthesia fees or non-covered services. The total billed to insurance will be more than our self-pay package prices because of the high cost of billing.  Be aware that if your insurance carrier does not participate with Virginia Fertility & IVF, you will be responsible for the portion of the fee that they don’t cover.  Also, be aware that your insurance company may not cover all the services that occur within your IVF cycle, so there may be some fees that need to be prepaid if they are non-covered (such as PGT, embryo cryopreservation, and storage).  The anesthesia fees are self-pay even with insurance as the anesthesia group does not participate with any insurance companies.
